The Big Durian is a Malaysian film in 2003 by Amir Muhammad. It is a film which combines the elements of documentary and a little bit of fiction. Throughout the whole film, there are people from different ethnicity and background were being interviewed regarding the incident in 1987. Some said that this incident was related to the racial issue and political issue in Malaysia. As this is a documentary film, there are no fictional storyline being told. Instead, people were talking about the incident that happened in Chow Kit back in 1987. It starts from a night, there was a soldier named Adam Jaafar ran amok and started shooting around with an M16 in Chow Kit. This had made the Malaysia citizen to feel panic and spread some rumors about the racial riots. Wes Anderson is a director for Isle of Dogs (2018) and Fantastic Mr. Fox . Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009) is an early stop-motion animated feature film by him before the Isle of Dogs (2018) . It was released in the year 2009 and it was based on a children’s novel with the same name written by Roald Dahl in 1970. Similar to the Isle of Dogs (2018) , this film had also portrayed the unique filmmaking style directed by Wes Anderson. Talentime is a Malaysian film produced in 2009 It is a drama film directed by Yasmin Ahmad about love and despair. In this film, we can see that there were two sides of the story. One is about the love of Melur and Mahesh, while another one is about the love of Hafiz and his mother. Both stories had shown a downfall that the main characters faced and how they go through their struggles. There is a talentime competition organised by Cikgu Adibah in a school for the students to participate. The students who were interested went through the audition and some of them were elected, including Melur and Hafiz. Since Melur was elected, Mahesh, an Indian boy was in charge for fetching her the rehearsal.
