Discontinuity-Editing: Run Lola Run (1998)

Introduction Run Lola Run is a German film produced in 1998. It was written and directed by the local film director, Tom Tykwer. This film is about a yung woman helping her boyfriend to get 100000 Deutsche Mark in 20 minutes to save his life. The same story is filmed in three alternative timelines in this film with various aesthetic editings, which then will be further analysed in this blog. Synopsis The story starts with Lola receiving a call from Manni, telling that the 100000 Deutsche Mark that he needed to deliver was being left in the train. Without this money delivered in the next 20 minutes, Manni will be killed. Because of that Lola asked Manni to wait for her as she will meet him in 20 minutes. In the first timeline, Lola was late with empty hand to meet Manni as he was already robbing the supermarket when she arrived. Cinematography: Isle of Dogs (2018)

Introduction Isle of Dogs is a stop motion film directed by Wes Anderson about a young Japanese boy searching for his dog and save the dog-kind. This movie is produced by Indian Paintbrush and Anderson's own production company, American Empirical Pictures, in association with Studio Babelsberg in year 2018. In this blog, we are going to talk about the cinematography of this film. Synopsis Since 1000 years ago, the Kobayashi clan who hated dogs rules a land in Japan. In the present, mayor Kobayashi intended to keep dogs away from mankind by delivering all dogs to the trash island. Spot, who is a bodyguard for Ataki was the first one being sent to the island. 6 months later, Ataki hijacked a plane and ran away from Megasaki to look for Spot. Introduction Amélie is a French film produced in 2001. It was directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet and was written by Jeunet with Cuillaume Laurant. The genre of this film includes romance and comedy. In this blog, we will be studying about mise-en-scene based on the film, Amélie (2001). Synopsis Amélie Paulein is a shy waitress who works in a cafe. Due to her lonely childhood, she tends to  be imaginative and mischievous. One day, Amélie found an old metal box of childhood memorabilia hidden in a wall of her apartment's washroom. After she returned the box to the owner and brought him happiness, she continues to bring happiness to other people around her while struggling with her own loneliness.
